How It All Started: The Story Behind Eco Lux Essentials

Every great brand begins with a story.

Mine started long before Eco Lux Essentials became a company. It started with a little girl from Mississippi who simply loved beauty, creativity, and making people feel confident.

For more than 27 years, I've dedicated my life to the beauty industry. Throughout my journey, I've been blessed to own and operate salons, spas, and beauty schools, mentor future professionals, and work alongside some of the leading product companies in the industry. Every experience taught me something valuable, but my purpose began much earlier.

While I was still in high school, I competed in a national beauty competition through Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA), now known as SkillsUSA. Competing against talented students from across the country, I proudly placed 10th in the nation. Although I was grateful for that accomplishment, I wanted to know who had earned first place.

When I learned that the winner attended Dudley Beauty Advance Training, my curiosity turned into determination. I wanted to see what made that school so special.

That decision would change my life forever.

Walking into Dudley Beauty School, I saw much more than a place to learn hair. I saw something bigger than beauty.

I saw an empire.

I saw successful Black entrepreneurs building businesses that served their communities. I saw educators investing in future generations. I saw professionals who looked like me creating opportunities for others. It wasn't just about styling hair—it was about building people, building families, and building communities.

For the first time, I realized beauty could become a ministry of service, a business with purpose, and a legacy that could outlive the person who started it.

That vision has stayed with me every day since.

As my career grew, so did my dream. I managed salons, operated beauty schools, developed teams, worked with professional product companies, and helped thousands of clients and beauty professionals. Yet something inside me kept saying there was another level.

I wanted to create products differently.

I wanted to focus on healthy hair, healthy scalps, and ingredients that worked with nature instead of against it. I believed people deserved products that respected their natural beauty while delivering real results.

That dream eventually became Eco Lux Essentials.

Eco Lux Essentials was created with one mission:

To help people grow healthy hair naturally while educating, empowering, and inspiring every person who sits in our chair or uses our products.

Every bottle we create represents years of education, experience, research, and faith.

Every formula represents a promise to put hair health first.

Every customer represents another opportunity to change someone's confidence and remind them that healthy hair begins with healthy habits.

Looking back, I realize that placing 10th in the nation wasn't a disappointment—it was the beginning of my purpose. Had I won first place, my story might have ended there. Instead, my search to understand what made greatness possible led me to Dudley Beauty School, where I discovered a vision far greater than winning a competition.

I discovered my calling.

Today, Eco Lux Essentials is more than a product line.

It is the continuation of a dream that started in Mississippi, was shaped by decades of experience, and is driven by a passion to help others build healthier hair, stronger businesses, and brighter futures.

This is only the beginning of the story.
